The REAL Reason... (you love Stargate SG-1!)
July 2016 (Original Version March 2005)
Music: Edit of "The Rock" soundtrack by Hans Zimmer (Tracks #1 and #2)
Spoilers: Entire series (Season 1 through Continuum)
Okay, so maybe there isn't one singular reason to love SG-1 (most definitely not!), but if you're anything like my friends and I, then "things blowing up" is likely to be among those vying for the top spot!
This is the fully overhauled, "revamped" version of the video I originally created in 2005 with the invaluable input of good friends Liz and Grant. I loved how the original turned out at the time, but the video quality wasn't very good back then and there have always been things I've wanted to sharpen up or do a bit differently. I finally made the decision to go ahead and update the video in time to submit it as my entry into the music video contest for the 2016 Creation Stargate Convention in Chicago - it was announced that 2016 was the last year of the convention (officially this time), so I thought this video would serve as a rather appropriate substitute for a fireworks send-off :-) The new revamped video is not only much better in quality, but is jam-packed full of new clips, with many old sequences that didn't quite fit with the "things blowing up" theme removed to make way for more explosion-y goodness. I also had the opportunity to implement a few fun ideas that either couldn't be done at the time of the original for lack of technical resources/know-how, or that only came to mind years later. This ended up being a substantial overhaul in the end and I'm extremely happy with the result (of course, the original will always hold fond memories so I've kept it online for nostalgic purposes, it can be viewed here).
The convention took place September 23-25, and this video was indeed chosen as one of the winners of what may have been the final Creation Stargate convention music video contest (although I certainly hope otherwise).
As always, I'd love to know what you think.
Enjoy!
Quick Note - I've had no issues in playback tests with Chrome, but I've noticed a tendency for the audio and video to fall out of sync when viewing this one in Internet Explorer.
