July 2015 (Original Version March 2006)
Music: "Not Listening" by Papa Roach
Spoilers: Up to and including episode 212 "The Hive"
This song pretty much describes the post-Wraith, enzyme-addicted young man that Rodney McKay (un)affectionally dubbed "Super Ford". I liked Aidan Ford before this change, but I admit the introduction of this storyline certainly made things a bit more interesting.
The original version of this video was created way back in 2006 and was a winner in the Stargate Fan Awards of that year for the Best Character (Ford) category. I was quite pleased with the video at the time, but since then I've wanted to go back and revamp the video to improve the quality and clean-up/smooth over some of the sequences that have appeared more cringe-worthy over time as I've gained more experience. I finally found the motivation after learning that Rainbow Sun Francks would be appearing at the 2015 Creation Stargate Convention in Chicago, I finally found the motivation to go ahead and revamp the video for submission to the convention music vid contest. Now, what started out as a relatively simple replication to improve the quality and fix up some of the rough spots somehow snowballed into a complete overhaul and left the original a wee bit gutted. Although the basic skeleton, core elements, and - most importantly - the overall tone and feel of the original were maintained, this new and revamped 2015 version has a lot of distinct changes, which include the rearranging of existing clips as well as the addition of brand new clips and the complete removal of others. While such a significant overhaul wasn't originally intended, I'm very happy with this new and (I believe) improved version. Of course, the original version is the true winner of the 2006 Stargate Fan Award (although I'd like to hope the revamped vid might also have received that honour), and so for that as well as some nostalgic reasons I have kept the original version available for viewing/comparison here (beware the inferior quality!).
The convention took place August 14-17, and I had the pleasure of being in the theatre when it was chosen as one of the winners of the music video contest and shown on the big screen ahead of Mr. Francks panel. I also had the chance to speak with him afterwards - amazing, friendly guy, and he did me the great honour of signing my award :-)
Note: playback should be nice and smooth in most browsers, but can get a bit jittery in Internet Explorer.
